Trick or Treaters aren’t the only ones spooked these days… potential home buyers have recently been hiding from the shadow of high interest rates.

The average 30-year, fixed mortgage rate crossed 8% last week, and it sent a chill across the real estate industry. Nationally, new mortgage applications dropped last week to levels unseen since January 1995.

Here in Twin Creeks, only one new home purchase contract has been written so far in October… that coming yesterday when 103 Suntan Court went under contract. The purchase is contingent on the sale of the buyer’s current home.

There are now 30 homes listed for sale in the development. Savvy buyers who can navigate high interest rates – or come with plenty of cash – have the upper hand in negotiations right now and the pick of the litter!
